These podcasts will improve your life

Podcasts- I’ve hopped on the train and now, I can’t get enough!

How much downtime do you have?

Well maybe downtime is the wrong word, but how many times are you driving, folding laundry, waiting or doing something where your mind is free but your hands are full? Whether in a line at the grocery, your commute to work, or at carpool pick up – there is a lot of “blank time” that I’ve discovered can be filled with learning through listening!

Mindset research has been a big focus for me over the last few years. Learning about this topic helps me better understand myself as well as the people around me.

I believe that a growth mindset is one of the qualities that separates successful people from others. And a big part of the growth mindset is learning. Podcasts have made learning more convenient than ever.

This holistic list of podcasts is helping me expand as a professional and as a person. You’ll rarely see me out and about without my headphones! There is so much great information out there – you just need to know which ones to invest your time. I hope this list helps to broaden your mind.

These podcasts will improve your life

Each one of these podcasts has benefitted me in some way. Let’s get to it, so you can benefit too:

Skimm this: Current Events

skimm this podcast

This daily news podcast called Skimm This launched on March 4.

It’s released in the evenings — Monday through Friday at 5 PM — in order to reach people hitting the gym after work, commuters on their way home, or those who like to listen to podcasts during dinner prep.

Skimm This focuses on around four stories in total over the course of about 10 minutes. The top story is always a national or international subject, and the podcast’s goal is to provide more context and clarity around the story to help listeners understand why it’s important. I need this!

The company positions itself as a nonpartisan news source that only delivers facts, not opinions. I really like the objective point of view!

How I built this: Business Success Stories

how i built this podcast

Guy Raz dives into the stories behind some of the world’s best-known companies with interviews on his podcast. How I Built This weaves a narrative journey about innovators, entrepreneurs and idealists—and the movements they built. Some of these success stories are very inspiring.

Mind Your Business: Personal growth/Entrepreneurship

James Wedmore

James Wedmore, a seven-figure online entrepreneur, believes success is created by mindset over strategy, magic over metrics, and attitude over action.

I am obsessed with James Wedmore! He seems more like a life coach to me than a business coach but I’m realizing the tools go hand in hand.

The Life Coach School: Personal growth

brooke castillo

The Life Coach School Podcast is a resource for learning, growing, and becoming certified as a Life Coach. Even though her main focus is to certify life coaches through her life coach school program, I find her podcast speaks to people like me who like to learn self-coaching methods. To the point, succinct, and at average lengths of 30 min, her episodes are perfect for me.

The last two on this list have been where I’ve been spending most of my podcast time. The best is when I feel aha-moments that help me form new perspectives to improve my life.  Let me know if you try any that you hadn’t heard of, and what you think!
