9 of my favorite things to beat the heat

Is this hot weather getting to you? Living by the ocean in Southern California, we are not used to such high temperatures! With this record-breaking heat, my family has been making it a habit to take a swim in the ocean to cool down.

I know you will love this list of my favorite things to beat the heat. They are practical and useful items that will keep you cool!

1. Becca Show and Tell Black One-Piece

This Becca Show and Tell One-Piece ($83-$150) is sold-out almost everywhere, but I see Amazon has a list of vendors who still carry it. The scalloped lace conceals and reveals in all the right places of this bathing suit. If you’ve been looking for a timeless and flattering one piece, your search is over. This suit has been around for years, each year with a different name. The company brings it back because it is so popular!

2. Evaporative Cooler with Fan & Humidifier

My friends who don’t live in my town get confused every time I talk about how much I love our new swamp cooler. I forget that virtually everyone has air conditioning in their homes but people in the coastal cities of California!

If you can’t have an ac unit like me because the shape of your windows won’t fit the exhaust hose, get a swamp cooler to cool your room by 10-12 degrees.

This 525 CFM swamp cooler (on sale $249) is so great! I am literally chilly with it on right now – and it’s 90 degrees outside! Wow!

3. Personal Hand Fan

This $17.99 OPOLAR Portable Operated Two 2200mAh Personal Hand Fan is small enough to fit in your purse.

4. Tovolo Sphere Ice Molds

I love my ice mall molds $10 for a set of 2 and my Square Ice Cube Trays 2 pack $14! They are perfect slow-melting ice cubes for a fancy cocktail, a glass of whiskey or just to make a glass of water look pretty. The square molds make great frozen spice and butter blocks to have handy when you want to make a meal but don’t have fresh spices on hand.

5. Stainless Steel Straws

How refreshing would a cold cocktail be with an iceball and stainless straw? Ah, I’m going to have to make one after I finish this post. These are also much better for our environment.

Stainless Steel Straws $8.60

6. Ice Cool Scarf Neck Wrap Headband Bandana Cooling Scarf, 5 Pcs Value Pack

During my visit to Seoul a few months back, I discovered these cooling jelly neck wraps (set of 5- $17). You soak in water for 10 minutes, and the jelly material inside the scarf absorbs the water. You guys, it is so awesome, I keep mine in the freezer after the jelly has expanded and rest it on my neck when I want a quick cool down. It’s great for anyone who works/spends a lot of time in hot weather!

7. White Wine

It’s too hot to drink much else! I have been enjoying white wines lately. My two favorites are:

  1. Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio $13.99 (Costco has these for $17-18 but look at these prices from total wine!
  2. Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc Around $12 available at most grocery stores.

8. Beach Read – Crazy Rich Asians

My book club’s summer reading book is reading Crazy Rich Asians paperback or Audible audiobook, and it’s getting great reviews! I haven’t had a chance to read it yet, but I am looking forward!

9. Portable Waterproof Speaker

My son ordered these Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM Waterproof Super Portable Bluetooth Speaker and we’ll receive it today. One of his friends has it and has been raving about the quality of the sound.

I hope you found my list of favorite things to beat the heat, helpful!
